DESCRIPTION:
At the heart of the Upper Valley Cornia, on the southern side of the Metalliferous Hills, grouped on a hill, Monteverdi Marittimo sees its history closely linked to those of the abbey of San Pietro in Palazzuolo, founded in 754.
Monteverdi was walled and fortified by the monks of the abbey tower in 1308. In 1662 the territory of Monteverdi, with that of Canneto, Grand Duke was a feud.
